Dear Blackboard Community,
This week has been hard. It is difficult to fundraise knowing about the destruction of families at the border. What we do know is that art is activism and that the work that all of us are doing is telling a story, so balancing the two must be thoughtful.
With that, we bring you an upcoming event that grew from another national disaster, from our colleague at The Dramatists Guild, Jenna Chrisphonte, Director of Community Engagement.
In response to the tragic Hurricane Maria destruction, The Dramatists Guild is sponsoring a Puerto Rican Theater Festival in New York in collaboration with the Cherry Lane Theatre. The intention is to provide an opportunity for Puerto Rico-based playwrights to speak to their current devastation and loss.
As of the end of May 2018, ABC News reported on the sad reality that many still live without access to electricity, more than six months after the hurricane: Watch the story HERE.
