SHAUN PATRICK TUBBS (DIRECTOR): is an actor and director. Set in the small religious town of Greenwald, Mississippi, Some Old Black Man, is the story of irascible, anti-religious, 82 year old Donald Jones. He is a man resistant to change, but as his health declines he faces the inevitable.

Kathryn Neville Browne (Theresa): A New York actress with experience in theatre, film, and a current web series, Kathryn was nominated Outstanding Supporting Actress at the Indie Soap Awards for her work as Sandra Haven in the web series Empire. Her most recent short film, Waffle, screened at the prestigious South by Southwest Film Festival last year.  New York Theatre productions include Ibsen’s The Wild Duck (Gina); Romeo and Juliet (Lord Montague/Apothecary); The Women of the Mahabharata (Gandhari); Ruby’s Story (Adult Ruby) and A Christmas Carol (Mrs Cratchit). C NIAMBI STEELE  (Louise Freeman): is thrilled to be working again with the playwright, James A. Tyler. Coming from a rich legacy of Black theater in the revolutionary times of the 1960’s, Niambi has always loved working with poets, playwrights and spoken-word artists.  Before coming to New York, she was privileged to work with poet/playwright Mari Evans in two works, “River Of My Song” and “Eyes”, (adapted by Ms. Evans from Zora Neale Hurston’s, “Their Eyes Were Watching God”); with musical arrangements by Dr. David Baker; directed by Woodie King, Jr.  “As an actor, I’ve been incredibly blessed to have been a part of many real-time collaborations involving the creation of plays.  It’s an amazing experience.”  Since coming to New York, she has worked with many playwrights— J e Franklin (Black Girl Productions), Carl Clay (Black Spectrum Theatre), Yusef Salaam (Schomburg Center), Wallace Shawn (La Mama, ETC), Lorna Littleway (Juneteenth Legacy Theatre), Gertrude Jeanette (H.A.D.L.E.Y. Players), Leslie Lee (Negro Ensemble Company), Michael Jones (New Federal Theatre), Frank Silvera Writer’s Workshop (Harlem & National Black Theater Festival),  and students from the NYU Tisch School of the Arts.  She recently worked with Florida playwright, Aleshea Harris, in the world premiere of her play, “RIP.TIED” (freeFall Theatre Company, St. Petersburg, FL).  Niambi continues to study at T. Schreiber Studio & Theatre.

 

Sean C. Turner (Willy Carson): comes to acting from the world of stand-up comedy: where he has appeared on BET”s “Comic View” and toured nationally.  Sean is a member of the Frank Silvera’s Writer Workshop (FSWW) and Harlem Playwrights 21 (HP21).  This is his first reading with Blackboard he wishes to thank his friends and family for their support.
