Support James! We are pleased to announce that James Anthony Tyler’s “Dolphins and Sharks” begins a production this month. It is being produced by Labyrinth Theater Company and will run from February 9 – March 19th.

HAPPY BLACK HISTORY MONTH! Something feels different this year about Black History Month – namely #oscarssowhite… If one can call it a movement, then maybe we are in the midst of real change. Spike Lee wants us, black creators, “In the room where it happens” as the Hamilton Lyrics go. Nevertheless, Blackboard has two events …
Sammy and Phil have been best friends since childhood, sharing just about everything–except who they love most. Someone crosses the line and it takes deceit and revenge to backfire into self-destruction for everyone to realize the power in the spirits.
BLACKBOARD: Tell us a little but about yourself and why you write….JAMES: I was born in California, but grew up in Las Vegas, NV. I’ve lived a few places Wilberforce, Ohio where I went to school at Central State University and Washington, D.C. – I studied film at Howard University in a MFA Program, and I lived in LA before moving here to New York.
Set in the small religious town of Greenwald, Mississippi, “Some Old Black Man”, is the story of irascible, anti-religious, 82 year old Donald Jones. He is a man resistant to change, but as his health declines he faces the inevitable.
